1. Origin of the National Day of Public Sacrifice

On December 13, 1937, the invading Japanese army in Nanjing, China, began to carry out a forty-day-long horrific massacre of my compatriots, creating the Nanjing Massacre tragedy that shocked the whole world and killed more than 300,000 people. This is a fascist atrocity of human genocide in the history of human civilization. 27 February 2014, the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee of the twelfth session of the National People's Congress of China adopted a decision to establish December 13 as the National Day of Public Memorial Service for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre, and to hold a public memorial service at the national level on December 13 every year.

2. Who is honored on the National Day of Public Sacrifice

The National Day of Public Sacrifice is named after the Nanjing Massacre, but it is not only for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre; on February 27, 2014, the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China (NPC) adopted a decision to specify that the objects of the public sacrifice are the victims of the Nanjing Massacre and all the compatriots killed during the war of invasion of China by the Japanese imperialists.

3. How the National Day of Public Remembrance ceremony is conducted

According to the approval of the State Council, starting from 2014, the national flag will be raised and lowered to half-mast at the main venue of the National Public Offering Ceremony for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre on December 13 every year. Leaders of the Party and the State will attend the National Public Offering Ceremony held at the Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Invasion of the Japanese Army in the Nanjing Massacre. After the singing of the National Anthem of the People's Republic of China (at approximately 10:01 a.m.), a siren will be sounded over Nanjing for one minute.

If you hear the sirens, no matter what you are doing or where you are, please stop and bow your head for a minute of silence in honor of our fallen compatriots. If you are driving, please stop and sound your siren in tribute. Please try to wear plain clothes to send your condolences to our fallen compatriots. Stop recreational activities.

4. Declaration of Peace

The majestic Jinling, the mighty river, the bell mountain flowers and rain, the fragrance of a thousand autumns.

Nineteen thirty-seven, woe from heaven, one, two, thirteen, the ancient city fell.

The Japanese invaded China, looted and burned, and the Yangtze River was stained with corpses and blood.

More than 300,000 people have been killed, and six weeks of purgatory, woe to the nation.

The world was shocked, the nine states mourned together, the cedar chronicle, the cold plum blossomed.

Ancient catastrophe, civilization has suffered, a hundred years of lamentation, alarm bells are ringing.

The accumulation of poverty and weakness has brought shame to the mountains and rivers, and the country has been torn apart by internal and external troubles.

National awakening, independence and liberation, reform and revitalization, and national prosperity.

The past is not to be forgotten, the future is to be guided by the past, the earnest concern is to enlighten the saints, and the many difficulties are to revitalize the nation.

In 2014, the National Public Ceremony, Chinese and foreigners, gathered in the square.

The white flowers pay tribute to the solemnity of the occasion, and the dan zhen writes a poem of peace.

The Way of the World, the world for the public, the Great Virtue is said to be born, and harmony leads to auspiciousness.
